The vivo x70 pro is a phone that's been out for a few months already but could be a good deal for someone looking for a camera centric mid-ranger the back seems like frosted glass but is actually made of a substance called fluoride the glass camera bump is on the bigger side and sticks out of it but it's nothing so over the top like the plus model which had a sort of mirror next to it overall the x70 pro feels quite premium and at the same time lightweight and easy to wield you don't get any ingress protection here though unlike the pro plus which is ip68 rated the display here is a bit different too it's a curved 6.56 inch amoled with a 1080p resolution and a fast 120hz refresh rate this is opposed to the 6.78 inch ltpo amoled on the x70 pro plus which has a qhd resolution and 10 bit color still this display is more than adequate the fast refresh rate smooths out your swiping and scrolling and you also get a responsive 240hz touch sampling rate there's also hdr10 plus support and content looks great here color accuracy can be excellent depending on your color profile and settings and max brightness is impressive too we measured a max of 460 nits with a manual slider and a boost up to around a thousand in auto mode and bright conditions the vivo x70 pro does fall behind competitors and even the pro plus model when it comes to audio instead of stereo speakers there's just a single one it earned a score of good on our loudness chart but the bass and mids were lacking another difference we'll touch upon is the chipset rather than a snapdragon 888 like the flagship model the x70 pro has a mediatek demand c1200 it provides high level performance but it's not quite flagship grade still while in benchmarks the x70 pro does struggle to keep up with the flagships in real world use it's snappy enough it does seem to be quite power efficient too the x70 pro has a 4 450 milliamp hour battery and it was able to score an excellent endurance rating of 123 hours much more than the plus model the charging speed is respectable too with the bundled 44 watt adapter we were able to charge from zero to 64 in half an hour the interface here at least on the international version of the phone is vivo's fun touch os 12 based on android 11. it's highly customizable with options to change the home screen the lock screen and even animations to your liking there's also an always on display which again is very customizable and there's an ultra game mode which provides do not disturb options and others as well such as allowing a game to run in the background even with the screen off while you don't have a card slot for expandable storage you can opt for 128 256 or even 512 gigs on board and waking up and unlocking the phone is done with an under display fingerprint reader which is fast and reliable you could argue that the most impressive feature of the x70 pro is its extensive camera setup for a mid-ranger it features a gimbal stabilized 50 megapixel main cam and two telephotos a 12 megapixel one with two times zoom and an 8 megapixel five times periscope zoom finally you get a 12 megapixel ultra wide cam 12.5 megapixel photos from the main camera look good they have balance sharpening with a natural rendition of foliage and the colors are punchy but not over the top dynamic range is wide enough and the resolve detail is impressive our main nitpick is that the photos are a bit softer than some competitors two-time zoomed photos are excellent with a lot of detail wide dynamic range and punchy colors and they're sharp too if there's plenty of light the five times periscope zoom matches the great detail and sharpness of the other telephoto cam and dynamic range is pretty good in less ideal situations though the photos come out considerably softer and noisier but they're still decent shots from the ultra wide cam have processing that doesn't really match the other three cameras colors are less vibrant and the dynamic range is narrower still there's plenty of detail and the distortion correction does a great job and since the ultrawide has autofocus you can take close-up macro shots with it these are detailed and sharp way better than what you get out of the dedicated macro cams on competing phones in low light photos from the main cam are really good they aren't the sharpest around but have impressive dynamic range and contrast natural looking colors well-contained noise and plenty of detail the dedicated night mode is really fast to process each shot but its effects are pretty subtle sharpness is improved in darker parts of the image and the shadows are brightened a bit low light shots from the two times telephoto cam are pretty good the processing is in line with the main cams with accurate colors nice contrast plenty of detail and well-developed shadows night mode doesn't seem to make much of a difference on this camera in fact these photos might even be less sharp the five-time zoom camera struggles after dark taking photos that are muddy noisy and soft night mode does improve the contrast and sharpness a little but it's not enough to make a good photo the ultra wide cam holds up pretty well at night while dynamic range is narrower and colors are less punchy than the main cams you still get an okay level of detail and surprisingly good sharpness turning on night mode doesn't provide much benefit if any and these photos are noticeably softer for some reason selfies come from the 32 megapixel front facing cam and these are a bit disappointing while there's a good amount of detail wide dynamic range and accurate colors the photos are soft and a bit noisy videos can be recorded with the main cam and up to 4k resolution at 60fps 4k video quality is disappointing while the fine detail is there the video is soft overall the exposure is a bit too bright and there's poor contrast too but thanks to the gimbal the 4k videos are nicely stabilized with smooth enough walking and pans there is an ultra steady mode that adds electronic stabilization to the mix but is capped at 1080p resolution and the results aren't that much smoother the other cameras don't support 4k recording at all they can only shoot in 1080p generally the results aren't impressive but they are usabls so that's the vivo x70 pro it has a premium and rather compact design a nice curved amoled screen and excellent battery life and of course there's very versatile set of cameras that take great still photos however compared to the pro plus or even some cheaper alternatives there are some shortcomings here you don't get waterproofing stereo speakers or a flagship chipset and the quality of video recording leaves more to be desired but still it's pretty hard to find a mid-ranger at this price with such diversity when it comes to steel photography and if that's what you're after the x70 pro is worth looking into thanks for watching guys stay safe and see you on the next one you
